What Is the Fingersonic Firmware Updater?

The Fingersonic Firmware Updater is a lightweight web tool hosted at update.fingersonic.cn. It works directly in your browser and talks to your Fingersonic device over the device's built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. There is nothing to install.

To run an update you need:

• A Fingersonic Keys or Fingersonic Beats with at least 50% battery (fully charged recommended)
• An iPhone, iPad, or Mac running Safari
• A stable internet connection for the first load — the firmware files are then cached for offline use

The Keys updater also supports a Continuous Burning toggle for batch-updating multiple units without re-clicking the button between devices.

How to Use the Fingersonic Firmware Updater: 4-Step Guide

The four steps are nearly identical for both devices. The only difference is the bootloader gesture in Step 2.

Step 1 — Confirm the Battery Is Charged

Plug in your Fingersonic Keys or Fingersonic Beats and make sure the battery is at or near full. A power loss during flashing can permanently damage the device. Check the box "I have confirmed the device has sufficient battery" to unlock the next step.

⚠️ Important: Do not unplug or power off the device while flashing is in progress.

Step 2 — Enter Bootloader Mode

This is the only step that differs between the two products. Pick the matching instruction below.

For Fingersonic Keys:

1. Hold down the leftmost key on the Fingersonic Keys and keep it held.
2. While holding that key, rapidly press the left rotary knob 5 times.
3. All keyboard LEDs will blink once, confirming the device is now in bootloader mode.

For Fingersonic Beats:

1. Hold down the leftmost hi-hat pad on the Fingersonic Beats.
2. While holding the pad, rapidly press the rotary knob 5 times.
3. All pad LEDs will blink once, confirming the device is now in bootloader mode.

Check the box "LEDs blinked — I'm in bootloader mode" in the updater to continue.

Step 3 — Connect to the Fingersonic Wi-Fi Hotspot

The Fingersonic Keys or Beats broadcasts its own Wi-Fi network while in bootloader mode.

1. Open Settings → Wi-Fi on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
2. Connect to the network named Fingersonic.
3. When prompted, enter the password: 88888888 (eight 8s).

Once connected, return to the updater tab and check "I'm connected to the Fingersonic hotspot". Safari will reload the page on the new network — this is normal, and your progress is preserved.

Step 4 — Upload the Firmware

Click the Upload Firmware button. The updater will:

1. Stream the latest firmware package over the local hotspot connection.
2. Display a live progress bar (0–100%).
3. Verify the upload and write it to the device's internal flash.
4. Automatically reboot the device when complete.

The whole process typically takes 1–3 minutes. Once the Fingersonic Keys or Beats reboots and reconnects, the new firmware is live.

Bonus — Continuous Burning for Batch Updates (Keys)

If you're a retailer, classroom, or have multiple Fingersonic Keys units, toggle on Continuous Burning at the bottom of the Keys updater. After each successful flash, the tool automatically scans for the next device — when it detects one, the Upload button re-enables so you can flash again without reloading.

What to Do If Something Goes Wrong

The page won't load after switching to the Fingersonic hotspot

This is expected on iPhone — Safari drops the main internet connection when it joins a hotspot that has no internet uplink. The updater detects this and reloads itself automatically. If it doesn't, tap the URL bar and reload manually.

Step 3 stays greyed out

Make sure you've checked both Step 1 and Step 2 boxes. The updater enforces sequential steps to prevent partial flashes.

Upload stalls at a low percentage

Move closer to the Fingersonic device (within 1–2 meters). The Wi-Fi signal between the device and your phone is the bottleneck, not your internet speed.

The Fingersonic device doesn't reboot after upload

Wait at least 60 seconds. If nothing happens, long-press the power button for 10 seconds to force a reboot — the firmware will still be applied.
