Which Updater Do You Need?

Fingersonic ships a separate updater for each product. Pick the one that matches your device:

The three updaters look and behave almost identically — the only difference is the device-specific gesture to enter Burn Mode / bootloader (covered in Step 2 below). All run in any modern browser; all talk to your device over its own Wi-Fi hotspot.

What Is the Fingersonic Firmware Updater?

The Fingersonic Firmware Updater is a lightweight web tool hosted at update.fingersonic.cn. It works directly in your browser and talks to your Fingersonic device over the device's built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. There is nothing to install.

To run an update you need:

• A Fingersonic Keys, Fingersonic Beats, or Fingersonic Guitar with at least 50% battery (fully charged recommended)
• An iPhone, iPad, or Mac running Safari
• A stable internet connection for the first load — the firmware files are then cached for offline use

The Keys updater also supports a Continuous Burning toggle for batch-updating multiple units without re-clicking the button between devices.

Recommended Browser: Safari on iPhone and Mac

For the smoothest experience, we strongly recommend using Safari on iPhone, iPad, or macOS. Here's why Safari is the best match for the updater:

• Native WebSocket support — Safari handles the long-lived connection between the updater and your Fingersonic device without dropping mid-flash.
• Strict Wi-Fi handling — Safari correctly switches networks when you join the Fingersonic hotspot, so the page reloads cleanly without losing progress.
• Offline caching — Once loaded, Safari caches the firmware locally, so you can complete an update even if your main Wi-Fi drops.
• Privacy and security prompts — Safari's permission flow for local network access is the most predictable on desktop and mobile.

Chrome on macOS also works well as a backup. Avoid private/incognito windows — cached firmware won't survive a tab restart.

How to Use the Fingersonic Firmware Updater: 4-Step Guide

The four steps are nearly identical across all three devices. The only difference is the bootloader gesture in Step 2 — make sure to follow the one that matches your model.

Step 1 — Confirm the Battery Is Charged

Plug in your Fingersonic Keys, Beats, or Guitar and make sure the battery is at or near full. A power loss during flashing can permanently damage the device. Check the box “I have confirmed the device has sufficient battery” to unlock the next step.

⚠️ Important: Do not unplug or power off the device while flashing is in progress.

Step 2 — Enter Bootloader / Burn Mode

This is the only step that differs between the three products. Pick the matching instruction below.

For Fingersonic Keys:

1. Hold down the leftmost key on the Fingersonic Keys and keep it held.
2. While holding that key, rapidly press the left rotary knob 5 times.
3. All keyboard LEDs will blink once, confirming the device is now in bootloader mode.

For Fingersonic Beats:

1. Hold down the leftmost hi-hat pad on the Fingersonic Beats.
2. While holding the pad, rapidly press the rotary knob 5 times.
3. All pad LEDs will blink once, confirming the device is now in bootloader mode.

For Fingersonic Guitar:

1. Keep the USB cable unplugged.
2. With the Fingersonic Guitar powered off, hold down the multi-function knob, then turn on the power.
3. The on-board screen will display “Burn Mode” when flashing mode is active — you're ready to flash.

💡 Guitar tip: Unlike Keys and Beats (which use a key/pad + knob combo), Guitar uses a single physical gesture with the rotary knob during power-on. If you don't see “Burn Mode” on the screen, power off and try again — make sure the USB cable stays unplugged the whole time.

Check the box “I'm in bootloader / burn mode” in the updater to continue.

Step 3 — Connect to the Fingersonic Wi-Fi Hotspot

The Fingersonic device broadcasts its own Wi-Fi network while in bootloader mode.

1. Open Settings → Wi-Fi on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
2. Connect to the network named Fingersonic.
3. When prompted, enter the password: 88888888 (eight 8s).

Once connected, return to the updater tab and check “I'm connected to the Fingersonic hotspot”. Safari will reload the page on the new network — this is normal, and your progress is preserved.

Step 4 — Upload the Firmware

Click the Upload Firmware button. The updater will:

1. Stream the latest firmware package over the local hotspot connection.
2. Display a live progress bar (0–100%).
3. Verify the upload and write it to the device's internal flash.
4. Automatically reboot the device when complete.

The whole process typically takes 1–3 minutes. Once the Fingersonic device reboots and reconnects, the new firmware is live.

Bonus — Continuous Burning for Batch Updates (Keys)

If you're a retailer, classroom, or have multiple Fingersonic Keys units, toggle on Continuous Burning at the bottom of the Keys updater. After each successful flash, the tool automatically scans for the next device — when it detects one, the Upload button re-enables so you can flash again without reloading.

What to Do If Something Goes Wrong

The page won't load after switching to the Fingersonic hotspot

This is expected on iPhone — Safari drops the main internet connection when it joins a hotspot that has no internet uplink. The updater detects this and reloads itself automatically. If it doesn't, tap the URL bar and reload manually.

Step 3 stays greyed out

Make sure you've checked both Step 1 and Step 2 boxes. The updater enforces sequential steps to prevent partial flashes.

The Fingersonic Guitar doesn't show “Burn Mode”

Double-check that the USB cable is fully unplugged, then power off the Guitar completely before holding the knob and turning the power back on. A partial power cycle (sleep) won't trigger bootloader mode — use the physical power switch.

Upload stalls at a low percentage

Move closer to the Fingersonic device (within 1–2 meters). The Wi-Fi signal between the device and your phone is the bottleneck, not your internet speed.

The Fingersonic device doesn't reboot after upload

Wait at least 60 seconds. If nothing happens, long-press the power button for 10 seconds to force a reboot — the firmware will still be applied.
